For the past five years, North Vancouver REALTOR® Oscar Barrera has organized with his family, friends and team to feed the homeless on the east side. Last year over 1,000 people were fed by the team efforts and in 2016 hundreds of people in need of proper winter clothing were helped.
In 2016 during a meal delivery in October, they noticed that most of the homeless were very cold and in a serious lack of proper weather protection. It is because of that need that we have decided to do the first and now the 2nd blanket and clothing drive to help as many people as we can in this cold season.
WHAT:
Clothing items that will keep people warm. Blankets, gloves, scarves, sweaters, jackets, hats, and of course BLANKETS.
Please, all items must be in good condition.
The cut-off date to drop off donations will be
Wednesday NOVEMBER 13th.
Preparation and logistics will be
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 15th.
Delivery of the clothes to the homeless will be
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 18th.
We will have a few drop off locations, please pay close attention to the time the drop off locations are open.
If you are unable to deliver at those times, please contact us (information below) and we will do our very best to meet you and collect your lovely donations.
Also, We are aiming at having a BBQ at a drop off location to not only provide people with warm clothing but warm burgers and hot dogs!

If you have other suggestions of where people can drop off the clothing or if you would like to help us collect please give us a call.
HOW:
We will be dropping off at Oppenheimer Park and if we have leftover clothes, Just how we deliver the meals, we will be driving around areas of town where the homeless congregate and we will deliver the clothes directly to them.

WHY:
Gifting a few pieces of clothing to some people in need may not seem like much or a big deal. It is easy to overlook the importance and the power of small actions, however, the impact that we have in someone's life by a small action is impossible to measure. In the days that you feel that life has it against you, when your day is not going well, or when you are simply feeling down, an action as simple as an unexpected smile or hug from someone can turn your day around, maybe your week and perhaps your future.
We all have the ability to donate a pair of gloves, or socks, or something that will make a real difference in a person's life. I promise you that you will feel fantastic by helping others!
That being said, if you would like to help us collect, organize, deliver, or maybe even make a few meals to deliver with the clothing please let us know, we would LOVE to have you involved.
